🔴⚫️ Another late Rocks Round-Up:First up, the 1st team, below is a little overview from manager Vinnie (with some extra input by myself in brackets):“Rockland welcomed North Elmham to Green Lane (and in our glorious new Lamberts Construction Ltd home kit). After the previous week’s poor performance against the same side which Rocklands lost 4-2. Last weekend, with the good looking management duos’ pre-match team talk ringing in the players’ ears, Rocklands set about their revenge mission. A scrappy first 15 mins with both teams cancelling each other out. Later on in the half, the pace of Rocklands front line started to work, resulting in the first goal scored by Venables (he definitely doesn’t wanna be branded a super sub). This started the next 15 minutes of madness, a quick counter attack making it 2-0 to Rocks (G. Allison with the goal assisted by Jacko) )… this may have been the other way round with Venables scoring the second actually, either or) and a penalty kick awarded 3-0 (Venables to complete his brace) then minutes later 4-0 (G. Allison also getting a brace) ran past 2 players and slotted home. With the away team’s Lino waving the flag frantically like he was being attacked by wasps, the ref was having none of it. H/F 4-0Second half was as expected, a defensive battle, which suits the Rocklands game plan. The only blemish on the game was to concede a sloppy goal. Due to the front line not getting into a defensive shape. 4-1. At this point the dugout received a powerful left foot volley and A few unsavoury words were said. However Rocks keeper A. Marshall had little else to do apart from wind the opposition up. Pav hit a 40 yard thunderbolt which crashed off the post (definitely a nose bleed after that). Also T. Hawthorne had a free kick which sliced the moon in half (just landed). Overall a good performance, which is now expected every week. Green Lane is turning into a happy place again (do we dare say fortress?)Attendance 89,001 Next week away to Costessey 3pm”Our Reserves unfortunately lost 5-2 away to West Row Gunners, but being a new and improved squad and management setup the time will come for Ressies to get into their stride and gel as a team! Hallsy and G. Borrett with the goals and a promising season ahead for sure. No Ladies fixture was played due to our opponents postponing, so all focus was on our Vets who were in action at Green Lane on Sunday, and despite losing 3-0 to a decent AFC Lynn side, there were lots of positives to take from the match for sure including great effort with a great squad. We’ll take that performance into the next fixture and build from it for sure (basically taken words from J. Davies’ post-match thoughts; aka Schmeichel)A huge thanks to Lambert Construction Ltd for generously sponsoring Rocks a new home kit as well as jackets! Truly honoured and grateful. Luckily a lot of the lads had haircuts in time for the photo (coincidence?). Thank you also to 4Sports Group for producing the kit, Joma style 👏🏼#VenablesBrace #AllisonBrace #LisaNeedsBraces #RecordGreenLaneAttendance #ThreeAssistsForJackoWhatAMan #ThankYouLambertConstruction #WeLoveOurSponsors #HallsyKeepsScoring #OneClub #Rocksrocklandunitedfc.uk 📸: Kayleigh Capps🔴⚫️ ...
